My husband's great grandfather John Teasley Drury, by family lore, came from Illinois when John T. was about 8 years old with his father, who was born in Turkey, according to 1880 census for Jeff Co. They homesteaded a large farm in Jefferson Co; relatives still live there. Yet the family does not appear on census before 1880. These folks are not related to Ste. Genevieve Co. Drury folks, as far as we know now. | ||||

William Austin was living in this area around 1840-1850 He married Emalie Winifred Harris. I believe he may have had 2 brothers, John and James Austin, and a sister Abigail. His sister married John T. Palmer, John married Nancy Porter, and James married Martha ?... I am tring to find who his father was, and the decendants of any of the family. William moved to western Missouri. He was in Lawrence county in 1880, and joined the Union army in the Civil War about 1862 in Springfield Mo.
