Is it possible for anyone to tell me how many towns along Hwy.21 in Jefferson County had printed newspapers in the year 1934? And, are these archived anywhere in any historical depository or elsewhere, that I can access? My Great-unlce, Leo George MAURATH and his friend "Buss" MORT, were travelling from one party to another, late on the night of Friday, November 9, 1934, or that Saturday. They had been drinking, and Leo (who was driving his '29 Roadster with rumble seat), tried to make a sharp turn which he had missed, and rolled the car. Buss was thrown clear, and Leo was crushed under the car and died one week later in City Hospital in St.Louis. This accident happened somewhere along Hwy.21 in Jefferson County, and I'm trying to find out where it happened, and a newspaper account of the incident. Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please respond to conlaeth@juno.com Thank you so much!

I am researching the KOHR and PRIESTER families in Jefferson County, MO. Christina PRIESTER was born 20 Sep 1849 in Jefferson Co. and baptized 12 Feb 1850 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her father was John PRIESTER (born abt 1802 in Germany); her mother Anna (Susanna?) SIETER(in). Her brothers and sisters included Mary, Mary Ann, Jacob, Angelina, Anton, and Louis. How were they related to the other PRIESTERs in the county - George, Baptista, John, Ernestine? Was Charles PRIESTER related to them? I have seen this family listed with Melinda as the mother. Is this the same family or a different family? Henry KOHR was born in St. Louis Co. 12 Feb. 1854 to Jacob KOHR and Barbara EICHHAENDLER. Jacob is on the 1860 census but not in 1870. The 1870 census show him as an aprentice to his uncle Henry (Heinrich) KOHR a blacksmith. Two of Jacob's other sons are also in uncles' homes as wagonmakers or blacksmiths. Christina PRIESTER married Henry KOHR in 1873. They had seven children. Mary Anna (married John HOHMAN), George (married Lena EMS), Katherine Ida (married BARTH), Jacob (married Maggie ??), Barbara (married Louis KOCH), Elizabeth (married Fred BENDER) and Louisa (married first August SPEER and second Arthur B. COCKRUM). I have pictures of some of these children and wedding pictures of some that I am willing to copy for other researchers with family interests. Also have information on KOHRs in Germany.

I am searching for the PITZNER family ancestors. They lived in St Louis in 1880, they are on the census. I have a marriage record of Henry PITZNER(PITZ) and Elizabeth Davis for 1874, so they were there then. The family moved to WI, but one daughter either stayed or came back and married Harry Fitzgerald. Her name was Alma PITZNER. It is in family legend that another brother moved back also, but not sure of his name. Any help on this PITZNER name, or if some- one can give me a clue as what or how to search next.

Update to April 7th Query. I am looking for any information on the following families who lived in DeSoto, Jefferson County, MO in the mid- to late-1800s. - Samuel PRENTISS was born April 29, 1811 in Portland, Cumberland, Maine, died January 18, 1891 in DeSoto, Jefferson County, MO). He married Sarah M. MANESS on June 15, 1854 (age 39 in 1870 according to the 1870 census). I believe this could have been Samuel's second marriage because he has a son that was supposedly born in 1849 in DeSoto that lists he and Sarah MANESS as his parents; but, supposedly Samuel didn't arrive in DeSoto until 1854. Would also like any additional information on Sarah MANESS and her family. Samuel's oldest son (from that possible previous marriage) was Lewis Smith PRENTISS. Lewis was born December 6, 1849 in DeSoto, MO(need proof) and died in Seattle, King, Washington, on April 17, 1936. Lewis married Jessie Gertrude CAMPBELL on October 1, 1871 (need proof) in DeSoto, MO. Lewis "works on rail road" according to 1870 census. Need any information on Jessie CAMPBELL. Sarah and Samuel then had following children: - Samuel Stearns PRENTISS was born August 6, 1855 in DeSoto, MO (need proof) and died in Kansas City, MO on July 9, 1930. On December 28, 1877 he married Lucy Jane THOMPSON in DeSoto, MO (need proof). Need any information on Lucy THOMPSON or Samuel PRENTISS. - Abbie Louisa PRENTISS was born August 15, 1859 in DeSoto, MO (need proof) and died May 10, 1951 in St. Louis, MO. She married Thomas Edward COX on December 23, 1885 in DeSoto, MO. I need any information on Thomas E. COX. He was from Ohio and died on April 6, 1897 in DeSoto, MO. (Need proof of death and burial place - funeral record says buried at DeSoto City Cemetery, but they do not have a record of the burial.) - Anna May PRENTISS (she was known as May) was born May 6, 1864 in DeSoto, MO (need proof) and died April 16, 1953 in St. Louis, MO. She married Edward Baily WILLIAMS on September 24, 1891 (need proof) in DeSoto, MO. Need any information on Anna May PRENTISS and Edward Baily WILLIAMS. - There were also two other children: George PRENTISS was born in about 1866 and died on December 17, 1884 of "fits" at the age of 18 and another daughter, Minna Janet PRENTISS, born on January 27, 1869 in DeSoto ("given away" by her father after mother's death at the age of six to her uncle, George Lewis PRENTISS of Dorset, VT and his wife Elizabeth Payson PRENTISS, both authors and very involved in the church) and died in Carmel, Monterey, California, at the age of 89 on August 21, 1958, and had never married. She remained estranged from her family. She ran a "mercantile shop" in Carmel called "The Cinderella Shop" for 38 years.
